Adroit SCADA is an open model automation thechnology software, which can be as simple or as complex as you need it.
Connection to hardware
Adroit comes with a large number of drivers, capable to provide communication to the most common PLCs and other automation devices. It the case there is no driver, Adroit can use the OPC platform to connect.
Adroit can connect to multiple different PLCs and other devices at once.
The connections can be different in nature, i.e. they can be serial networks, point to point connections, packet switching networks, like Ethernet.
ADROIT SCADA architecture
Adroit is scalable package and comes as a server and UI. It can be purchased in increments which are based on the number of scan points. One scan point is one reading of a value or status from e.g. a PLC. However 16 statuses can be packed into one packet and transmitted as one scan point. This is a huge saving of scan points and ultimately the 30 scan point license can be used to monitor up to 480 status i.e.digital points
SCADA software - general notes
SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) sofware is primarily used for presentation of a plant condition, control, data logging and very basic reporting.
It should be noted here that there is an assumption by many users that SCADA software will necessaritly have a full reporting capabilities built in. Unfortuantely, this is not the case, not just for commercial reasons. In more situations than not, when data logging is required, the data is meant to be used by more people than just those running the plant. Therefore, very often the data is logged to a third party database, e.g. SQL, where reporting is a completely separate application. Whilst modern SCADA packages are mostly built based on the principles of the open architecture, which allows the use of various software tools to extract the data, the built-in reporting has typically been left on the very basic level.
Adroit Report Suite
Unlike most other off-the-shelf SCADA packages, Adroit SCADA comes with a Report Suite free of charge. The Adroit SCADA Report Suite is a tool to present the process data, with an emphasis on the alarm management.
The Alarm Management agent in Adroit and its associated reports in Adroit Report Suite draw on the ISA18.2 Standard, EEMUA 191 Guidelines, research performed by DC Campbell Brown and Adroit Technologies experience around alarming and alarming systems.
